Kampala, Uganda - In a candid address to the National Unity Platform (NUP), Mathias Mpuuga, a prominent opposition leader, emphasized the need for sober and focused leadership to effectively challenge President Museveni's rule.
Mpuuga stressed that to achieve political success, leaders must be alert and attentive 24/7, adding that Museveni's own sobriety has contributed to his enduring grip on power. He cautioned that relying on substance-abusers and reckless individuals would only hinder the opposition's progress.
However, Bobi Wine, NUP's leader, pushed back against Mpuuga's remarks, pointing out that the same people Mpuuga was criticizing had voted him into office. The exchange highlights the ongoing debate within the opposition about the most effective strategy to unseat Museveni.
As Uganda's political landscape continues to evolve, the search for a united and formidable opposition force remains a pressing issue. Will Mpuuga's call for sober leadership resonate with the masses, or will Bobi Wine's populist approach prevail? Only time will tell.
